On January 16 (Mon), 2023, in Conference Room 1, 3rd Floor, Building 33, Toyama Campus, Waseda University, a lecture meeting entitled “Looking Back on the History of Global Japanese Studies: On Frank Hawley and His ‘Horei Bunko’ Collection” was held, sponsored by Waseda University Research Institute for Letters, Arts and Sciences and the Ryusaku Tsunoda Center of Japanese Culture, and co-sponsored by Waseda University’s Global Japanese Studies Model Unit, Top Global University Project.

Doctoral Research Fellowship in Japanese Studies at the University of Oslo
A PhD Research Fellowship in Japanese Studies is available at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages (IKOS), University of Oslo. IKOS seeks to recruit a PhD candidate with excellent research qualifications who will investigate issues of heritagisation in contemporary Japan.
The successful applicant will address issues related to the project Sacred heritage? Secularisation, sacralisation and the production of heritage in contemporary Japan.
