NIJL/EAJRS Kotenseki Seminar 2025

The National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL) and the European Association of Japanese Resource Specialists (EAJRS) are pleased to invite you to the third Kotenseki Seminar.
This year, we will explore Japanese publishing and distribution from the late Edo to the early Shōwa.
Our speaker will discuss how Japan’s publishing industry and culture evolved following the opening of the country.
The seminar will be delivered in Japanese, without interpretation.

The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development across several departments—Art History, Film Studies, Archaeology, Media and Communication, and Educational Sciences— by advancing teaching and research that integrate the study of global visual cultures (past and present) with computational methods and critical approaches to digital tools and artifacts.

La cartographie d'Asie de l'Est à la BnF

The CartAsia program, launched in 2024 as part of BnF's four-year research plan, is studying a large collection of cartographic material from East Asia held in the Library's collections. Conducted by the Department of Maps, with the support of numerous scientific and institutional partners in France and around the world, the aim is to raise awareness of and provide access to this dispersed and hitherto difficult-to-identify corpus. This year's seminar will focus on Korean maps and on the map collections held by Parisian institutions.
