国立歴史民俗博物館（歴博）のメタ資料学研究センターでは、令和4（2022）年度より、機関拠点型基幹研究プロジェクト「日本歴史文化知の構築と歴史文化オープンサイエンス研究」を進めています。「日本歴史文化知」とは、「人文情報学的研究」と「地域歴史協働研究」の相互連携にもとづく研究プロセスと研究成果の総体を指します。「人文情報学的研究」では、地域における歴史資料（地域歴史資料）をはじめとする多様な歴史資料について、資料分析に即したデータ構築と高度なデータ研究を進めます。「地域歴史協働研究」では、そこから得られたデータを用い、地域の人々と協働しながら資料の継承を考え、地域歴史資料研究を推進します。
加えて、昨年度からは、科学研究費助成事業 学術変革領域研究（A）「歴史情報学の創成」を開始しました。この事業では、歴史資料の構築・分析・公開を相互に結びつけ、歴史学と情報学の協働による新たな研究基盤と方法論の形成を進めています。
これらのプロジェクトを支える中核的な情報基盤システム「khirin（Knowledgebase of HIstorical Resources in INstitutes）」を中心に紹介します。これまで複数のシステムとして運用してきたkhirinを新たなシステムへと統合しました。加えて、現在特に力を入れている3Dデータ構築、そして「歴史情報学の創成」における研究展開を紹介します。

The Center for Integrated Studies of Cultural and Research Resources at the National Museum of Japanese History (Rekihaku) has been conducting the institutional research project “Construction of Japanese Historical Knowledge and Open Science Research” since FY2022. “Japanese Historical Knowledge” refers to the totality of research processes and outcomes generated through the mutual collaboration of “Research based on Digital Humanities (DH)” and “Collaborative Research on Regional History.” Research based on DH advances the construction of diverse forms of data on a wide range of historical materials, including regional historical materials, as well as advanced data research grounded in the analysis of historical sources. Collaborative Research on Regional History uses the resulting data to promote research on regional historical materials and to consider the preservation and transmission of these materials in collaboration with local communities.
In addition, since FY2025, we have been conducting the Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Areas (A) project “Establishing the Digital History.” This project connects the construction, analysis, and publication of historical resources and advances the development of new research infrastructures and methodologies through collaboration between historical studies and information science.
We focus on khirin (Knowledgebase of HIstorical Resources in INstitutes), the core information infrastructure system supporting these projects. We have integrated khirin, which was previously operated as multiple separate systems, into a new unified system. We also introduce our current work on 3D data construction, an area on which we are placing particular emphasis, as well as recent research developments within the “Establishing the Digital History” project.
