Please allow me to draw your attention to a conference that might of interest to some of the members of this list.
The Working Group for Premodern Japanese Literature (Arbeitskreise Vormoderne japanische Literatur) will mark its 25th annual meeting with the symposium "Poetics of the Palimpsest: Parody and Satire as an Expression of Continuity in Japanese Literature" to be held at Heidelberg University from 27-29 November 2026, with the generous support of the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung.

Dear colleagues, 

The new FutureLearn course Global Codex: Hidden Stories of Books Across Cultures invites participants to explore books as historical artefacts, examining the clues hidden in their bindings, paper, illustrations, fibres, annotations, and other physical features. 

Travelling across Japan, Dunhuang, Europe, the Greek and Islamicate worlds, and Southeast Asia, the course reveals how books were created, circulated, and cherished across cultures and centuries.
